The two types of TBCs do very different things.

I may be off though, but from what I have been reading from posts on this forum, most DVD recorders and VHS players have line TBC which doesn't do much whereas a dedicated full frame TBC does more thorough work. Is this true or would I get better results using a DVD recorder in passthrough mode connected to a cheaper SD capture device like you suggested? I guess buying a different capture card + the DVD recorder you mentioned would actually be cheaper. Is there any other uses for a device like this besides cleaning up signal from VHS players? I am having issues trying to justify the purchase of a $300 TBC for this one time project though. I would prefer to stick with this capture card since it is supposedly one of the best HD capture devices for the cost. I obviously should have done some more research. Since I probably won't be capturing much SD footage after I am done with this project, I needed the extra compatibility so that I would be more likely to have a use for it after I am done. The reason I purchased the Elgato was that it could also record from HDMI. Or maybe there is there some device I could run the video through to eliminate the glitches and make the source constant?Īs you might be gathering I don't know much so any help would be greatly appreciated. What would you recommend I do? Is there some other software I could use with the Elgato that would not drop the signal due to hiccups in the playback? I searched around a little but couldn't find much. It is primarily meant for capturing gaming footage, but it also has an adapter for composite and component input.

Also here is the manual and user guide for the Elgato Game Capture HD. Here is the user manual and some other information. The VCR I am using is a Samsung dvd-v3500. This can be very frustrating because it can take 5-10 seconds to reacquire the signal. Playback comes to a defect in the tape where the picture gets messed up for a split second. This happens whenever there is a break in the playback from the tape. While recording these I ran into an issue where the Elgato software will lose signal from the playback device. Most of them were on video8 cassette tapes and the rest were on VHS tapes. My thought was to loop the gaming monitor through the Elgato, which should give me at least 120Hz as the Elgato supports, however that AOC only has DisplayPort and no HDMI, and looking for a new MOnitor with HDMI 2.I recently purchased an Elgato Game Capture HD with the goal of converting some old home videos to digital. It's really annoying, especially as it stops you from doing "simple" stuff like change the Music in the background, or get a different window on top of the screen (discord, etc.) stopped and i can do something on the desktop / browser / wherever. I have the same issue, when i play Overwatch in Fullscreen, and switch, it can take up to 20 seconds before all the screen juggling etc.

I'm duplicating the AOC desktop onto the Elgato, which leaves my main PC recognizing 3 Monitors (the mentioned 2 + elgato). I have as my main monitor a 34" curved ASUS ROG monitor, my main gaming monitor is an AOC 24" Full HD with 144Hz. I'm running 2 PC's, 1 is the gaming PC and the other one the Streaming PC.

I do have the same Problem, however my setup is slightly less "crowded" than yours.
